2007 - Drawing (on transparency)

This series was born after the discovery of a little notebook in a bric-a-brac which I decided to use in my work then went on toward a work on daily life ( as I had already done in “the diary”) My studio was no longer looking onto the church and the cemetery of a French village but onto the red-light district of The Hague… From my studio’s windows, I could see the prostitutes in their windows and at the end of the street the house of Spinoza. A sheer revolution from all points of view, philosophical , theological , sociological…(but soon in this street I was told, the prostitutes would have to give way to posh restaurants…) The drawings were made with ink on transparency and then were superimposed on literary texts. As for ”The compositions” (of a bigger size) they have been superimposed on Dutch cooking recipes , my very own way of laughing at what will soon happen under my windows..
